Postdoc position at SENSEable City Lab, MIT
The SENSEable City Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is seeking exceptional candidates to fill several postdoctoral positions. The focus of the research will be on complex systems at the urban/regional scale. SENSEable City Lab researchers come from various disciplines, including architecture, urban planning, physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and the arts. The lab emphasizes the importance of human behavior and emotion in the study of pervasive technologies in the urban environment. Research projects are developed and achieved through a team-based, multidisciplinary approach. A wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds will be considered, but experience in handling massive data sets and network science is a must.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
The responsibilities include:
- Perform basic or applied research
- Extend existing theories and methods
- Prepare and write research papers targeted for top tier conferences and journals
- Contribute to the functioning of the lab including supervising students and liaising with other researchers in the community
The ideal candidate will have a recent Ph.D., a background in physics, computational biology, statistics, computer science or related areas and experience in computational modeling, data mining and analysis. Candidates with a strong analytical background and interest
in interdisciplinary research as evident from published research will be also given particular attention. Experience or interest in one of the following fields is a plus, but not necessarily a requirement: esthetic sense, human-computer interaction, GIS, data fusion, data visualization, signal processing, human mobility, and transportation.
